The National Immunisation Program (NIP) funds several vaccines for eligible Australians, including shingles and RSV vaccines for certain age groups and risk categories. Eligibility depends on factors such as age, medical historu and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status.
You may be eligible for a funded shingles vaccine or RSV vaccine under the National Immunisation Program if you meet specific eligibility criteria. The shingles vaccines is funded for eligible older adults and certain immunocompromised individuals, while the RSV vaccine is funded for eligible older adults and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within approved age groups.

Shingles is caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus and can result in a painful blistering rash.

Do I need a prescription for a shingles vaccine?
No. Eligible vaccinations can be administered through the pharmacy in accordance with current vaccination authorities and eligibility requirements.
Can I get vaccinated if I've previously had shingles?
Previous shingles infection does not automatically exclude you from future vaccination. Speak with our pharmacist about your individual circumstances.

All vaccinations we administer are recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), which your doctor and other health professionals can access.
